Yohji Yamamoto’s adidas Y-3 GENDO Line Highlights Negative Space Through Hollowed Out Soles_CaminosModa

First debuting at Yohji Yamamoto’s runway show, the adidas Y-3 Gendo line of footwear is ready for arrival.

Focusing on the idea of negative space and elevation, Yamamoto chose to hone in one two of the most iconic adidas silhouettes of all-time — the Superstar and Pro Model. Both are already privy to the white/black negative concept, but the Japanese designer chose to infuse some heritage via this feat of function to communicate the vision as the hollowed out TPU midsole perfectly fits into the negative space concept.

Inspired by the adidas innovation team, wYohji applied the sleek midsole to premium crafted uppers of the Superstar and Pro Model. Both feature Yohji’s insignia etched into the TPU midsole, with high-end leathers, zipper enclosures (for the Pro Model), and a rubber “shelltoe” cap that extends downward to the bottoms.

adidas Y-3 confirms an October 21st release for the Y-3 GENDO line at Y-3 locations and adidas Confirmed, but both of the Superstar colorways are available right now directly from adidas for $800 apiece.
