As one of the sportier designs of the 99x range, the New Balance 997 made a seamless transition into 2019 with the appropriately modernized 997S remodel. Thus far, the materials that we’ve seen appear on the silhouette have been a rather perfect fit, with Cordura and suede exteriors speaking to the outdoor appeal and Bodega’s iterations being sought after by the true geeks of the community. These latest GRs class things up a bit with the use of the textured Saffiano leather at the toe-box, mid-foot quarter, and heel, while a fine-grain suede adorns the toe-box. The micro-fiber interior in beige also suggest lux styling, although the diamond-grate nylon textured tongue grab on to the Sport DNA.
