NIKE, Inc. has never had issues being self-referential. For its latest example, the global sportswear juggernaut has taken the Air Jordan 3’s iconic elephant print and applied it to the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG.
Previously launched overseas, the pair finally heads stateside tomorrow, May 6th. Smooth leather bases take on a clean “White” makeover that allows for the aforementioned pattern to revel in the spotlight. Panels around the toe, along the tongue, and across the heel nod to Tinker Hatfield’s first design for the Air Jordan series, which arrived in 1988. Pitch “Black” covers the side swooshes, “Wings” logo on the lateral ankle, and collar area, making another connection between two early shoes in Michael Jordan’s signature line. Lastly, midsoles underfoot opt for an “aged” look that are complemented with “Tech Grey” outsoles.
